The account
I ran Google Ads for two separate home‑remodeling accounts in the US, through a US agency. The screenshots cover the same dates for both, 31 Aug–14 Sep 2026. In that time the first account spent $8,628.99 and the second spent $1,673.90.
The goal in both was more calls and enquiries from homeowners.
The problem in this niche
Remodeling ads get clicks from many people who will never hire a contractor. People who want remodel ideas, DIY help or a remodeling job click the same ads as homeowners who want a quote.
The leads that do come in mix real projects with price shoppers and some spam. Many arrive as phone calls, which are easy to lose track of.
What I did
- Went through the search terms and put searches from people who were not looking to hire on a shared negative list.
- Checked the location settings, so the ads showed to people in the area the crews covered.
- Moved budget toward the campaigns that brought in conversions and calls.
- Reported phone calls and conversions separately, so the agency could check which ones turned into jobs.
What changed
60 conversions at $55.77 each from one campaign, a 5.24% conversion rate
31 Aug–14 Sep 2026 · 1 of 4 campaigns in the first account
78.85 conversions on $8,628.99 across that account, $109.43 each
31 Aug–14 Sep 2026 · 3,237 clicks
16.50 conversions on $1,673.90 in the second account, $101.45 each
31 Aug–14 Sep 2026 · 645 clicks
8 conversions at $19.23 each from one of its campaigns, a 5.88% conversion rate
31 Aug–14 Sep 2026 · 1 of 3 campaigns in the second account
Google counts fractional conversions, so the counts are shown as printed. The two accounts are shown apart and never added together. The arrows on the overview tiles compare with an earlier period that the screenshots do not show.

For an agency
If your client is a remodeler, much of the wasted spend comes from searches by people who will never hire, and from leads nobody checks after they come in. I can take over the search-term cleanup and report calls and conversions separately, so the report you send your client shows what the ads brought in.
